How to Become a Realtor in Kentucky?

The process of becoming a realtor in Kentucky involves education, passing an exam, and obtaining a license. Here's a breakdown of the steps required to become a real estate agent in the state of Kentucky.

Step 1: Meet the eligibility requirements

To be eligible to become a real estate agent in Kentucky, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or its equivalent. You must also be a legal resident of the United States.

Step 2: Complete Pre-Licensing Education

The next step in becoming a real estate agent in Kentucky is to complete pre-licensing education. Kentucky requires 96 hours of pre-licensing education, which includes two courses: 48 hours of Real Estate Principles and Practices, and 48 hours of Kentucky Real Estate Law.

At HomeServices Real Estate Academy, we offer evening live in-person instruction and online remote Kentucky Pre-License classes via Zoom. Our educators have years of experience in the field and provide valuable insight into the topics they cover.

Once you have completed the courses, you will receive a certificate of completion, which you will need to submit when you apply to take the licensing exam.

Step 3: Pass the Kentucky Real Estate Licensing Exam

The next step is to pass the Kentucky real estate licensing exam. The exam covers both national and state-specific topics. You will need to register and pay a fee to take the exam, and you must pass with a score of at least 75%. The questions cover topics such as real estate law, contracts, financing, and property management.

At HomeServices Real Estate Academy, we offer special 2-day cram sessions that break down the licensing exam in detail and gives you a targeted study opportunity to fill any gaps in knowledge and do your best on the pending exam.

Step 4: Obtain a Kentucky Real Estate License

Once you have passed the exam, you will need to apply for a Kentucky real estate license. You will need to pass a national background check and provide your certificate of completion from your licensing exam.

We also provide classes for Continuing Education every two years and post-licensing Kentucky Core Courses every four years so that you can ensure your licensure stays in perfect standing.
